A group of citizens, with a wide range of viewpoints came together at Prior Lake City Hall to work on developing civil discourse around the topic of immigration. The two moderators were Republican Rick Olson and Democrat Renita Fisher, a candidate for House in 56A.
A very lively discussion was had. Moderators did a great job of keeping discussion focused and respectful, while we sought to find some common ground. While we certainly didn’t solve this complex issue, most participants left feeling that this conversation was valuable, that we need to find ways to come together and communicate more effectively and were appreciative of this opportunity. Discussing issues with those you don’t agree with isn’t comfortable or easy, but especially now is vital to moving forward!
