Action! No More People to Prison on Crimeless Parole Violations

December 11, 2018 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Hennepin County Government Center
300 South 6th St
Minneapolis, MN 55487

We’re close to a huge win to #DecacerateMN in Hennepin County. Specifically we are demanding:
1) Stop sending people to prison for crimeless technical violations of parole (conditional and supervised release)
2) Request the DOC return those in on such petty violations of parole for the holidays

We need you to show up to the County Commissioners’ meeting and stand strong! We must stop them from sending people on parole to prison for failures of housing or employment, being late for curfew, missing an appointment, and many other non-crimes. An estimate 450 were sent to prison in Hennepin County in this way over the last year.

This ruins lives, separates, families, and costs taxpayers millions – 41,366 per person per year – further overcrowding MN’s prisons.

This is a daytime action so please invite anyone who might be free and *take off work now* if you can! Be prepared to walk through a metal detector before heading to the 24th floor on “Side A”
