This brown bag panel discussion will help you learn best practices for how to effectively share stories and information with elected officials as a community activist.
The objectives of the training are:
*Understand how individuals from the community have engaged with elected officials
* Learn best practices in engaging elected officials – collectively and individually
* Hear success stories about effective engagement
* Find out how to form or join existing community advocacy groups
There will be a Panel Discussion with the following people:
* Antonietta Giovanni – parent of an adult son with autism and community activist
* Nikki Villavicencio – parent who has a disability, Maplewood Parks & Recreation Commission
* Caren Gallagher – retired teacher, activist in Stand Up, Indivisible and other groups
* Juliana Keen – from Lutheran Social Services will be representing This Is Medicaid, a coalition of groups who are committed to defending the Medicaid program from cuts or changes that hurt the program.
