TitleOn Friday November 16, 2018, the Department of Education released a proposal to amend the regulations implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX). If the proposal is finalized utilizing this language, campuses will become less safe for victims/survivors, and perpetrators will be less frequently held accountable.
We are calling on our allies to raise your voices against this harmful proposal.
Before these proposed rules become legally binding, the Department must go through a process known as “notice-and-comment,” which allows members of the public to voice their opinions on the Department’s proposed rules. The Notice and Comment period will be open until January 28, 2019.
You can take action now by joining us on Thursday, January 24th – we, along with allied organizations across the state, will be gathering together to write and submit comments on these proposed changes. Submitted comments play a crucial role in how seriously courts take proposed changes into consideration. By sharing good arguments, we can give courts the tools they need to reject these harmful regulations.
