H. R. 906, Merrill’s Marauders Congressional Gold Medal Act.

Summary: This bill directs Congress to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the 5307th Composite Unit (Provisional), commonly known as Merrill’s Marauders, in recognition of their bravery and outstanding service in the jungles of Burma (Myanmar) during World War II. Following its award, the gold medal shall be given to the Smithsonian Institution where it shall be displayed and made available for research.   1. My father was a Merrills Marauder. He was wounded in Burma, Will this award be sent or presented to family members? We have his ribbons displayed and would like to display this also. He would be so honored. He was very proud of his service.

    1. Hi Tom. I looked up the bill. It has not moved out of committee and on to the floor for a vote yet. It has over 300 cosponsors so it seems like a popular piece of legislation. This does not seem unusual though as there have been over 18,000 bills introduced this session and only about 1000 have made it to the floor for a vote.
